- Effluent Treatment, ETP Plant
Effluent treatment plants use sophisticated procedures to treat industrial wastewater. These processes involve chemicals to remove contaminants and organic components from water and ensure safe disposal. The primary function of chemicals used in effluent treatment plants is the removal of solid particles, pH adjustment, disinfection, odour control, foam prevention and sludge management. At Ravi Enviro Industries Pvt.Ltd, our ETPs employ biological and chemical processing to provide high-quality ETP solutions to meet the industry standards and help businesses to reduce, reuse and recycle precious water.
Various Types of Chemicals Used in Effluent Treatment Plants
#1 Chemical Coagulants & Flocculation of Wastewater
One of the biggest challenges of wastewater is the removal of solid particles. The microscopic sediment particles are difficult to capture, even with proper filters. This is why coagulation and flocculation chemicals used in effluent treatment plants are used to remove solid particles. Coagulants like iron and aluminium salts are used for the particles to form clumps or settle down during the sedimentation. At REIPL, as one of the most trusted effluent treatment plant suppliers in India, our ETPs are backed with chemicals and systems that cater to different types of effluents coming from diverse industries.
#2 Chemical Co-precipitation of Dissolved Metal Ions
Metal or metal ions that are dissolved in water are another major issue. The dissolved metal ions’ solubility depends on the pH. When the pH is increased to the alkaline range, the solubility of the ions is reduced. For instance, if the pH is brought down to 10, the solubility of nickel, which is higher than 100 milligrams per litre at a neutral pH of 7 or 8, can drop to less than 0.001 milligram per litre. Hence, it is crucial to remove these compounds by chemical co-precipitation, reducing the concentration of copper, nickel, iron and other metals.
#3 Chemical Oxidation Process
The advanced oxidation process targets the removal of various compounds with higher chemical stability or poor biodegradability. The ETP manufacturers in India emphasize using reducing agents like sodium hydrosulfite, sodium bisulfite and other chemicals to counter the effect of antibiotics, chlorine and other compounds.
#4 Defoamers & Antifoamers
Defoaming agents are chemical additives that reduce the trapped air and foam formed during the wastewater treatment process. These agents, like silicone, remove existing foam and prevent air from forming foam.
Common Disinfectants Used in Effluent Treatment Plants
➤ NaOCl (Sodium Hypochlorite)
➤ Ca(OCl)2 (Calcium Hypochlorite)
➤ Cl2 gas (Chlorine Gas)
➤ Chloramines
➤ Ultraviolet light radiation
➤ Ozone
